Learning to stay with Jesus | Focolare Word of Life Reflection

Learning to ride a bike usually means falling at least once. Yet getting back up is what gives us the courage to keep going. In this Word of Life reflection, we are invited to see how the same is true in our journey of following Jesus. In the Gospel story of the Transfiguration, Peter, James, and John witness the radiant glory of Christ and fall to the ground in fear. But Jesus approaches them with these words: β€œGet up and do not be afraid.” When they rise, they see only Jesus before them. These words become a powerful lesson for our own lives of Christian discipleship. Following Jesus can sometimes feel glorious, sometimes ordinary, and sometimes even frightening. Yet every day with him is an adventure. Even when we fall or feel discouraged, Jesus invites us to rise again, look to him, and begin anew.
