Praying the Rosary in the Spirit of Unity
The Unity Rosary is inspired by the charism of the Focolare Movement, an ecclesial movement committed to living for the fulfillment of Jesus’ prayer to the Father: “that all may be one” (Jn 17:21). It is available for free on YouTube in video format and on all major podcast platforms in audio form. You can also download the official leaflet with all the meditations.
Chiara Lubich, founder of the Focolare Movement, described the Rosary as “a summary of the entire Gospel. By praying it and meditating on each mystery, one can relive the whole life of Jesus, accompanied by Mary.” In this spirit, each mystery of the Unity Rosary is introduced by a scripture passage and brief reflection rooted in the spirituality of unity, helping the person who prays to connect the events of Jesus’ life with daily relationships, wounds, hopes, and commitments to communion.
There are different legitimate ways of praying the Rosary within the Church, and individuals or communities are free to add prayers before or after the mysteries according to their own devotion and tradition. In preparing the Unity Rosary, we followed the guidelines proposed by the Vatican and by the USCCB. At the end of each rosary, we included a concluding section to pray for the Pope and his intentions, recognizing the Pope as a visible sign of unity within the Church.
