Habemus papam! White smoke emerged from the Sistine Chapel chimney at 6:07pm Roman time today. The Holy Spirit at work.
Now we’re celebrating the new Pope Leo XIV, who came to Vatican City as Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost. He’s only been a cardinal since September 2023. Born in Chicago, sixty-nine years old, educated at Villanova University and Catholic Theological Union, and the Angelicum in Rome. He was once prior general of the Augustinian Order. He holds nationality in both the U.S. and Peru. We will share much more about him in the days to come.
